Playa de Fañabé in Costa Adeje has managed to recover the Blue Flag, which brings the total number of these prestigious awards that the municipality has to three, equaling Arona as the municipality of Tenerife with the most Blue Flags. The tourist municipality, which also has blue flags on the beaches of Playa del Duque and Playa de Torviscas, intends to increase the number of distinctions in the coming years.
This is a significant achievement, as Adeje aims to obtain the greatest number of these distinctions in the coming years, thanks to the collaboration between the private concessionaires that manage some of these areas and the city council.
The other two beaches that have obtained this international recognition are Playa de El Duque and Playa de Torviscas.
In Adeje, intense work is being done on the implementation of a plan to improve public spaces, which not only focuses on infrastructure, but also on the implementation of projects related to tourist intelligence, efficiency, improvement and control of some services and security. All of this is linked to the management and work on the beaches, which is carried out by the Department of Tourist Destination and Sustainability, directed by Patricia Paulsen Fölling.
It is important to remember that the Blue Flag is an award given annually by the European Foundation for Environmental Education. This recognition is granted internationally, not only in the Canary Islands or Spain, but throughout the world, to beaches that meet very strict and demanding standards that seek to guarantee bathers and users the highest quality in relation to the environment. and sustainable development of tourism.
Therefore, for Adeje, having three beaches awarded the Blue Flag is a great achievement “to which we want to continue adding new beaches and bathing areas in the coming years,” stated the councilor, for whom this award is a recognition of the excellent work carried out by the concessionaire companies, “whom we thank for their commitment to quality; and also to the plans that we are implementing from the city council, to live up to the infrastructure and services that we are improving to maintain the high level of quality that has always characterized our tourist destination and our municipality,” mentioned Fölling.
To obtain these international certifications, beaches must pass a series of technical inspections carried out by independent specialists who certify various aspects such as the quality of bathing waters, environmental information, comprehensive management, safety measures in bathing, accessibility, etc.
In addition to these three Blue Flags, Adeje has 21 beaches or bathing areas where the average annual temperature ranges between 19 and 25 degrees. With dark, golden or white sand, beaches with or without services, you can choose the one that best suits your plans to enjoy the sun and the sea. There are all types: family, large, small or more solitary.
