The Market will open every Saturday and Sunday, from 8:00 am to 2:00 p.m., in a facility of almost 1,050 square meters, where the visitor can enjoy the products of the kitchen garden, but also of other traditional delicacies, such as honeys , pastries, wines or cheeses, all with a wide variety that makes this Farmer’s Market one of the most representative of the Canarian gastronomy in the south of Tenerife.

This first weekend, hosted a large sample of old images of the primary sector in Arona, ceded by the Council of Historic Heritage, as well as the exhibitions Life according to age, crafts in the municipality and compiled by the Area of ​​Economic Promotion ; and Circles of healthy life, provided by the Canarian Health Service of the Government of the Canary Islands, as well as the projection of the video Women on foot of Field, of the Cabildo of Tenerife.

In June 2009, the preliminary draft of the farmer’s market was announced, which the town council planned to establish in the old facilities of Coslo in the heart of Valle San Lorenzo, where not only horticultural products but also livestock, floral, pastry, handicrafts and organic farming.

The call was attended by a large group of aroneros farmers, interested in knowing the draft of the project of the hand of the engineers of the company CP5, in charge of elaborating the mentioned document.
Reference was made, during the presentation, to the first meeting held with farmers in February 2009, which served as the first contact to launch the project of the future farmer’s market. In that first meeting a management commission was created whose objective was to carry out the necessary procedures to form an association of farmers and artisans that would give life to the future market, for which the city council had also hired a technician to advise the farmers.

The municipal representatives explained the characteristics of the market as indicated in the first draft of the project, consisting of two naves, one of which would house the stalls, while the other would qualify as parking.

The sales area would occupy a total area of ​​875 square meters, and a capacity for the location of 66 outlets (approximately 2.5 by 2.5 meters each), while the parking area has an area of 1,780 square meters, which means that it will have a capacity for parking of 74 vehicles.

The project, which was to be launched in mid-June 2009, also contemplates the construction of services for the general public, as well as banos and dressing rooms for the exclusive use of farmers, as well as an area of ​​social and administrative use , with dependencies where it is possible to develop the management of the infrastructure or even the location of a children’s zone.
