Tenerife black sand beaches

With the aim of discovering the island to residents and visitors, the biologist and photographer José Manuel Moreno has shaped a tourist guide on Tenerife. The island is one of the most renowned sun and beach destinations in the world, and every year its coast is crowded with tourists looking for a combination of good weather, a great leisure offer and a well-known gastronomy. However, it is also possible to enjoy a quiet beach day away from the more touristy towns.

Of the beaches selected by Moreno for his guide, those of more rested environment are the one of Bajamar, in San Cristóbal de La Laguna, of calm waters and with all the services around him; that of Bollulo, in La Orotava, on the edge of a cliff, of black sand and with volcanic formations that penetrate into the sea; that of El Socorro, in Los Realejos, with volcanic sand, and with great views of the entire north coast of Tenerife; the one of San Marcos, in Icod, with the typical shell form that keeps it to shelter of the waves, and like the one of Bajamar, with all the services, restaurants and bars near; the Tejita, next to the natural space of Red Mountain and with more than one kilometer of length; Playa San Juan, next to the fishing port and Blue Flag since 2012; Callao Salvaje, with a landscaped environment, rest and leisure areas; Playa la Arena, in Santiago del Teide, perfect for the family and with Blue Flag for 27 years; Los Guíos, at the foot of the Los Gigantes Cliff and with incredible views; And the site of scientific interest of the La Caleta, in Adeje, where the small coves of white sand, many of them nudists, merge with the capricious forms of the rocks.
