All set to start the Summer Carnival of Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife. From Friday 16, 2016, the resort town is filled with music and color celebrating for the first time this new initiative that brings the Carnival portuense the summer, and aims to become a tourist, social and cultural claim over the municipality.
Without being a replica of the iconic Tenerife Winter Carnival, the Summer Carnival will share the spirit and bring representations of the most popular celebrations as „Men in high heels”, a crazy obstacle course where the participants run on platforms; this summer it won’t be a competition.
Start a weekend full of rhythm, color, comparsas, batucadas, orchestras, parades and festivals that begins in the day tomorrow and end on Sunday 18 with more than twenty events scheduled. Avenida Colón, Paseo San Telmo and Plaza de Europa are the places where Carnival will be held for the enjoyment of tourists, visitors and residents of other municipalities, with a sample of what you can live in all its magnitude, in the International Carnival of Puerto de la Cruz in February next year.
The carnival will begin with the official opening at Loro Parque at 12:00 and the election of Carnival Poster 2017. Later, at 16:00, an exhibition of costumes Carnival in Tenerife hotels Playa, Valle Mar and Las Vegas will open, along with a parade of fanfares, stilts and masks, will complement the events scheduled for that day will end with a festival in Europe Square at 21:00.
On Saturday 17, from 11:00, in the San Telmo and Avenida Colón, salsa and makeup workshops Carnival will be held, accompanied by orchestra and dj performances. At 18:00, in the area Martiánez a choreographic groups performances. At 20:00 will take place already famous and known Mascarita Ponte Tacón, from Avenida Colón to the Plaza de Europa, you will not have competition, no prizes, but they will not lose its essence, attractive and striking, ending at 22:00, with the Fiesta del Flotador, a novelty of this new carnival.
Sunday 18 from 11:00 there will be children’s activities in the Avenida Colón, which will be complemented by dj performances in the Plaza de Europa. At 16:00 and the culmination of the event, we have the carnival parade will start from Columbus Avenue and end at the Plaza de Europa, where you will from 20:00 performance of La Chalana.
